Not only is it an obvious place for thieves to look but there's the potential of it falling off over time. The best place to put a spare key is in your wallet, purse, or something else you always carry with you. Also, don't worry about buying a steering wheel lock like the Club. It doesn't work since a thief will just break off the steering wheel or saw through it, completely bypassing the Club.
