BMW X6 - Production Version

posted in Auto Review |

It’s only been about 5 months or so since the Concept X6 made its debut, but it’s not stopping BMW from revealing a Sport Activity Coupe set to raise the eyebrows of every car manufacturer in the market with envy. The BMW X6 production version surely redefines our common notion of a coupe as it combines coupe agility for one, and SAV (Sports Activity Vehicle) versatility. It’s also no surprise that the BMW X6 production version will be propelled with an all new V8 twin-turbo, which in time, will definitely become a common spec on their upcoming models.

I’m sure that other automakers will have plans of their own to release similar SUV models into the market but given the current time and situation, BMW will undoubtedly be known as the world’s first to bring in such a SUV. In my opinion, the BMW X6 production version seems more like a X6 coupe-crossover.

From looking at this video, you would notice that right after the B-pillar, the X6’s roof-line starts to arch downwards right up-to its rising waistline. This without a doubt, compromises both the rear cargo volume and second row headroom, which boils down to lost of cargo space and seating ergonomics. The plus point nevertheless on this BMW X6 is surely on its extended body length and also its overall lower height (3.3 inches lower) than the current BMW X5.

Built with two engine variants in mind, BMW is all set to bestow their ground-breaking idea to the world, through this production version. Apparently the all new xDrive50i V8 4.4-liter twin-turbo, direct injection engine, can easily generate 407 horsepower at 5,500rpm. Their other engine, xDrive35i is said to produce 306 horsepower from its 3.0-liter in-line six box. This is basically what BMW is looking for, a solid replacement for their existing 4.8-liter naturally aspirated V8 engines.

With all the state of the art features said to be made available on this BMW X6 production version, it is in our opinion, a vehicle safe for any driver to enter and ultimately enjoy new dimensions of driving dynamics - This is the future!
