Updates On The All New Toyota VIOS - Part III

posted in Updates |

It’s been a while but it’s finally here, Part III of our review on the all New Toyota VIOS. Many readers maybe wondering why this took a long time to appear on our page, but as I’ve mentioned through a comment in an earlier post - we’ve been kept busy working 24-7, on a feature that we hope to introduce in the near future that will benefit all our regular blog readers.

But just to recap on what we have covered thus far with regards to the review we did on the all New Toyota VIOS, Part I saw us addressing the basic Introduction of the vehicle, Interior as well as touching on the Exterior details. Part II followed through with us talking about Comfort, Driving Performance and Safety Aspects. And to conclude our review on this third part, we will look into areas such as Safety Accessories, Eco friendly features and its Comparison of Specifications.

In reality, Part II had already covered certain areas related to Active and Passive Safety, but today, let’s look into additional features that extends a cars safety credentials :

Reverse Sensor

The vehicle is equipped with a system that facilitates parking manoeuvres in reverse by detecting any obstacles that could damage the vehicle. Just like in every other Toyota car this function works on a basis on what we like to call a Detection Zone :

  • Continuous Signaling Zone : This is the zone nearest to the bumper (up to 40cm). The sensor detects obstacle and gives a continuous acoustic signal whether the vehicle is at a standstill or moving. The driver should stop reversing.
  • Intermittent Zone : This is the intermediate zone (up to about 40 to 120 cm). The sensor gives intermittent acoustic signal if an obstacle is detected, even if the vehicle is at a standstill. The acoustic signal gets more rapid as the vehicle approaches the obstacle.
  • Start Detection Zone : This is the most distant zone (up to about 120 cm) and the widest. The sensor beeps slowly if an obstacle is detected. The acoustic signal gets more rapid as the vehicle approaches the obstacle.

Eco Friendly
Use of TSOP (Toyota Super Olefin Polymer)

The new VIOS has been designed with environmental consciousness in mind. The plastic body panels on the all New Toyota VIOS are made of TSOP. This special compound is prepared to Toyota’s exact standards for strength and durability. It also has the following environmental benefits :

  • High level of recyclability
  • Does not contain dangerous chemicals (lead, mercury, hexavalent chromium, cadmium)

Toyota has even gone further in its efforts to reduce the use of lead parts. They have now developed lead-free parts and reduce lead content where possible, such as :

  • Lead-free parts : Radiator / Heater core
  • Reduced lead parts : Wiring harness

Comparison of Specifications

  • Engine Type : VIOS @ In-line 4 Cylinder, DOHC, 16-Valve, VVT-i / City VTEC @ In-line 4 Cylinder, SOHC, 16-valve, VTEC / City i-DSI @ In-line 4 Cylinder, SOHC, 8-Valve, iDSI / Latio @ In-line 4 Cylinder, DOHC, 16 Valve, CVTC

Dear All….. My name Widijono from Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia. Just receive my All New Vios on April 3, 2008. In my opinion exterior / interior looklike nice, also the features.
The minus items are : (1) when change the transmision for move back, the sound ” klak ” ( technician says : it’s normal for Vios ). (2) key with wireless remote control only 1 ( one ), the others key without remote control.
Not yet test on the road, still awaiting the police no.

Please advise if there are somethings important with the all new vios which need extra attentions.

Thanks you and nice join with u
